Examples of Social Media Content

  • Special Collections Open House: Revolutions in Book Arts
  • Game Night
  • Adult Coloring
  • Candy Caves
  • Blind Date with a Book

Also for Black History Month they just snapped and posted a pic of some recommendations Black Teen Recommendations

Winter Reading Challenge

Fenway High School

The librarian at Fenway High School librarian posts YouTube videos DEAR: First Chapter Fridays. She gives a brief overview of the book and then reads the first chapter.

Fenway High School’s Instagram account fenwayhslibrary shares:

  • A redesigned or expanded section of the library.
  • new books added, most were a picture of just one book which is easy enough
  • LunchTime creations (a Lego design). I liked this one because many students create a small thing in 10 minutes sometimes during lunch that others never see. Lego design, a finished puzzle
  • Book Box: Cozy Edition
  • Book Return Season – shares pics of the piles of books that have been returned.

Milton Public Library

I love my town’s instagram page, miltonpl_ma. It includes updates of events from all different meeting groups and events, including

  • Staff picks
  • Monthly Movie Night
  • “No More Late Fees” posts – very cute
  • A “Libby” post about how to use Libby app (very creative and fun)

What I’ve Implemented

Based on my readings and exploring, this week I implemented the following:

Book Talks: March Madness – A YouTube Video that I created and shared with the school staff. I asked Homeroom Teachers to show the video during Homeroom (if possible). In this video I kick-off Women’s History Month, and highlight one book and one author. I also mention the Lego and Arts & Crafts Clubs meeting this week.

  • Going forward, I think I can manage a weekly Book Talk (1 middle school, 1 high school). It would include a book talk, updates from the library, such as a club activity.
  • I received positive feedback from a handful of teachers, and based on the views data, they did show it during Homeroom. My goal this summer is to create a school library website where I can post the videos.

I created an Instagram account! Follow me at rba_library! I have a few interns, so I asked one of the Senior Interns to be in charge of this account. Of course, she does not have login access but I told her she would be taking pictures, some video, and helping to get us some followers. Today was her first post featuring the Lego Club.

  • We will be incorporating posts of students doing crafts, reading, and enjoying the library.
